Every day that you open your eyes is a new opportunity. Not everyone gets that chance. Although not one person will see every sunrise or every sunset, the sunrises and sunsets of your lifetime are a gift. So, what will you do with the ones that you will see during your existence?
About three years ago, one of my children succumbed to catatonia and has not been the same since. Having once overheard a staff member at a facility where he was being treated say that he did not have to take medicine if he did not want to, he, from then forward, refused to be medicated. His mind slipped further away and into an alleged schizophrenic cloud. Being of age to make one of the biggest decisions of his life without having clarity of mind to properly do so, he has become a danger to himself and, by default, a threat to society: this is a double threat that a man of color cannot afford to embody.
Every now and then, he is able to carry a sensible conversation. Yet, as a being who is ensnared within his unstable mental capacity, he does not have quality of life. For whomever this must be written, because this counts for someone, do not squander away your time on earth. Your days, indeed, are numbered.
